About Brisbane
Click
here to watch a video about Brisbane
Brisbane is a river city that enjoys an enviable climate of hot, brilliant summers
and clear, mild winters. This modern, sophisticated city has retained its friendly,
easy pace of life, complete with parks, gardens and sidewalk cafe living. The
inner city is easy to explore on foot, but once outside of the downtown area
our Brisbane hire cars are
recommended as the metropolitan area is huge with lots of steep terrain.
In the CBD area, shining glass towers stand side by side with historic sandstone
churches and heritage
colonial buildings. The Queen Street Mall, with it's stylish shopping galleries,
fills with colour and activity day and night and South
Bank Parklands is a focus for visitors and residents alike with its riverbank
promenade, city beach, waterways, themed attractions, cafes and restaurants and
a host of entertainment and events. The adjoining Queensland
Cultural Centre boasts one of Australia's finest art galleries, the excellent Queensland
Museum, State
Library and the Queensland
Performing Arts Complex.
Mt
Cootha provides a look-out with magnificent evening views across the Brisbane
skyline. The near-city residential suburbs of Spring Hill and Paddington and
the exclusive streets of Hamilton and Ascot are home to many of the best examples
of Queenslander houses with their broad verandahs, intricate fretwork and iron
roofs. Much of Brisbane's river city history can be seen on a trip in the River
Cat ferries.
Brisbane Surrounds
While Brisbane offers visitors a modern, sophisticated city, it is also the gateway
to South-East Queensland's most spectacular natural attractions. The renowned
beaches of the Gold
Coast and Sunshine
Coast are just a little more than an hours drive from Brisbane. The family
favourite theme parks of Dreamworld and Movieworld are just a short drive south
of the city.

heartland of the Darling Downs all lie within easy driving distance of the city.
A Rent a Car from Bargain Wheels is the perfect way for visitors to reach and
explore the surrounding attractions.
Brisbane Accommodation & Dining
Brisbane has numerous choices of visitor accommodation ranging
from boutique to 5 star hotels, serviced apartments, motels, backpacker hostels
and bed & breakfast establishments. Brisbane's restaurant and cafe scene has
blossomed in recent years and you'll find there's no shortage of good eateries,
many of which take advantage of the balmy climate to provide outdoor eating and
sidewalk cafe areas.
