Charleville is the largest town in south west Queensland.  It is in the heart of the ‘mulga country’. In 1888, passenger and freight rail transport reached Charleville from Brisbane. Using Queensland Rail’s ‘Westlander’ you can reach Charleville as they still operate a passenger service twice a week to Charleville.

The Charleville Heritage Trail guides visitors through the history of the town and its heritage buildings.  The Cosmos Centre and Observatory invites you to explore the stars where a low horizon with beautiful clear nights will allow for a great night time experience.

A wonderful variety of Australian native wildlife including kangaroos and emus can be seen while travelling around the area.  Queensland’s mulga country is rich in history, flora and fauna.

You can travel in your rental cars from Bargain Wheels to the National Parks Research Station which is the home of the ‘Save the Bilby’ Fund. Seasonal 'meet the bilbies' tours are held at the station.
