Thangool is located 12 kilometres south of Biloela, an important lucerne and grazing area of the Banana Shire.  Thangool has its own airport and there are daily flights to and from Brisbane.  From there you can collect hire cars and experience the magical countryside. 

The town of Thangool is basically one street with a post office and a couple of pubs, however plenty of things to see but you will need to arrange car hire to get around.  Most of the population either work at the nearby Callide Mines   or one of the cattle stations.  Car rental is available but the number of vehicles is limited so you need to book before arriving.  The Horse racing track isn’t far away and is still used for the country meeting.

Mt Scoria is a conservation park located 17kms from Biloela and worth the drive,

There is no camping in the park but it is open 24hrs 7 days a week and there are plenty of walking tracks. Access to the park is suitable for conventional vehicles. Accommodation is available in either Biloela or Gladstone.
