Car Rental Sydney - Cheap Discount Sydney Car Hire – Special Deals and Offers on Sydney Rental Cars

Where do we start?  Sydney is a multicultural city offering a rich history to modern day attractions that will cater for every visitor.  Although Canberra is the capital city of Australia, Sydney has the largest population in the country with just over 4.28 million residents living in the metropolitan area.  Hire cars allow you to maximise your time in Sydney by giving you the ability to travel to the destinations of your choice, in your own time.

The Sydney area was home to Indigenous Australians and it has been estimated that when the first British convict colony was established in 1788, the number of aborigines living in the area ranged from 4000 - 8000 in number.  Captain James Cook actually landed at Botany Bay in 1770 and the British Government commissioned Arthur Phillip to establish a convict colony.  He arrived with the first fleet in 1788 at Botany Bay, and soon after it was declared inhabitable and he moved the settlement north to Sydney Cove, at Port Jackson on the 26th of January, 1778.  This day is now celebrated as Australia Day, and Sydney offers great Australia Day celebrations with Darling Harbour ending the day with a bang.  The Harbour comes alive with fireworks and a music show that will entertain the whole family.

It doesn’t have to be Australia Day for you to enjoy some great attractions at Darling Harbour with year round festivities including Christmas Activities and a New Years Eve Party full of free entertainment for the whole family.

The harbour played an integral part in the transportation of fresh produce from the north coast region and Parramatta.  In 1984, the old wharves where totally redeveloped to make way for a modern leisure space that incorporated restaurants, shopping, and a world class Convention and Exhibition Centre.  This facility is the largest and most technically equipped, of its kind in Australia.

Cockle Bay is the latest addition to Darling Harbour’s redevelopment.  With the harbour as your back drop you will enjoy al fresco dining in a modern atmosphere among some of Sydney’s most reputable restaurants.  The Chinese Garden of Friendship is also located in Darling Harbour and was designed specifically for the area by Sydney’s sister city in China, Guangzhou.  Chinatown is located close by, and you are sure to enjoy the Asian atmosphere that this little part of Sydney has acquired.

The Sydney Opera House is a must see for any tourist into Sydney.  This architecturally designed masterpiece is recognised worldwide and was designed by Denmark’s Jorn Utzon, who passed away in November 2008.  The Opera House is known for its world class performing arts facilities.  It appears on many post cards and has really become a symbol of Australia.

Another internationally recognised Australian icon is the Sydney Harbour Bridge.  The bridge was designed to connect cars, trains and pedestrians from the CBD to the northern suburbs.  You can enjoy Bridge Walks that will take you to the top of the steel arch and give you a 360° view of the Harbour and the Sydney Opera House.

Sydney has accommodation to suit most styles and budgets.  Your dining experiences can range from fast food outlets to world renowned restaurants.  The city also caters for holidays to suit the family to a romantic weekend away for two.

The list of attractions goes on and on and on…. don’t forget the Taronga Zoo or the Sydney Tower with restaurant that offers 360° views of Sydney while you dine, or the many Sydney Harbour cruise options, or the multiple shopping options to cater to every avid shopper.

Your Sydney experience can be a whirlwind adventure or a cruising, relaxing opportunity.  Either way, when planning your trip to one of the most popular cities in Australia, make sure to allow Bargain Wheels Rental Cars to help you with your car hire needs.
