Over the past 24 years they have built a reputation for providing an alternative rental solution to the expensive, new car option offered by the major national companies. Able to offer the choice of both new and used vehicles, Bargain Wheels has been able to supply the budget conscious renter with a clean and reliable vehicle whilst maintaining the highest levels in customer service and satisfaction.
Moving forward, John identified the need to grow the companies reputation under a brand name and on the strength of his gained experience and increasing recognition of the offering, rapidly expanded his Broadbeach operation into four locations including the highly competitive Surfers Paradise as well as Coolangatta and Brisbane Airports. With the gateways into Australia’s premier holiday destination covered, Bargain Wheels was then able to advertise to the southern state travellers through interstate newspapers, Yellow Pages and travel publications. Growing to a combined fleet of approximately 200 vehicles Bargain Wheels was able to capture a large market share being able to offer their customers pick up, drop offs and relocations in the South East Queensland area, which none of the immediate competitors could offer at the time. It became apparent during this time that in order to create further growth, the Brand name would need to be promoted more heavily not just in Queensland but throughout both Australia and New Zealand. It was decided that the best way to do this was to have Bargain Wheels locations Australasia wide. After consolidating the operating companies under the Bargain Wheels brand, the Franchising model was decided on as the growth plan for the business. In 2004 Bargain Wheels converted three of the company locations into Franchisees and commenced a recruitment program, identifying over 200 car rental opportunities within the two countries. Today Bargain Wheels has Franchise Locations at Adelaide Airport, Coolangatta Airport, Sunshine Coast Airport, Broadbeach, Melbourne Airport and Melbourne City. In addition, Bargain Wheels is able to assist our customers at all major rental locations, through-out Australia & New Zealand, with our specially appointed Agents. “We see ourselves as the ‘coke and peanuts’ option of the car rental world. was purchased in 1999 by John Farren-Price who combined it with
Ariel & Freeway Car Rentals, which he owned and operated also on the
Gold Coast.
