Enterprise Terms & Conditions – Important Info

Please note: for Enterprise Australia’s full terms and conditions, a link will be provided upon booking submission.

Below is a summary of the most important information. If you have further questions, please contact our customer care team.

Rental Vehicle Excess

The Damage Waiver Excess can range between AUD $3,350 and AUD $5,200 depending on the vehicle’s class and will be specified in the Rental Agreement you accept upon pick up.

The excess is the most you’ll pay towards repairs for damages to the vehicle’s bodywork, where the repairs are covered by the rental provider’s basic insurance. The basic insurance often doesn’t cover damage to other parts of the vehicle (overhead, underbody, interior, windows, wheels) or other charges (misfuelling, loss of use, key loss, towing, roadside assistance, child seats, GPS devices, personal belongings); you may be charged full costs for repair or replacement expenses that are not covered by the basic insurance.

Further, where the vehicle is hired from a remote location and driven between sunset and sunrise outside a city province, and loss or damage is the result of a single vehicle accident, the renter will be liable for all losses incurred. Refer to Alamo’s terms and conditions for more information.

Protection options to reduce or reimburse the rental vehicle excess are available. These options include third-party Rental Vehicle Excess insurance, and excess reduction waivers sold by the rental provider at the rental counter.

Credit Card Surcharge

0.80% (excluding GST) of the total transaction value will be charged to any card used for payment with Enterprise Australia.

Excluding the security deposit, the credit card surcharge is applicable to all rental charges, including damage liability charges and any optional items purchased.

Security Deposit/Bond

A security deposit of AUD $200 will be requested by Alamo Australia (by way of pre-authorisation) upon collection of the rental vehicle.

A pre-authorisation is not a charge but will limit the funds available on the nominated credit card. If no charges are processed by Alamo upon completion of the booking, pre-authorised funds will be released after a period of up to 28 days.

In most cases, the rental location will require a security deposit of AUD $200 upon commencement of the booking. However, if all of the local renter criteria below are met, the rental location will require a security deposit of AUD $1,000 in addition to the rental charge.

For security deposits of AUD $200, the rental location will accept all major credit cards and Visa and Mastercard debit cards. For security deposits of AUD $1,000, the rental location will only accept major credit cards.

Local Renters: Where the renter meets the below local renter criteria, a security bond of AUD $1,000 will be required.

  • Lives within the greater metropolitan area of the city in which the vehicle is collected
  • Is a first time renter with Enterprise, Alamo, or National
  • Is not a Corporate Renter

Prestige & Luxury: For Prestige vehicles, including classes of Compact Special, Fullsize Elite, Premium, Luxury, Premium SUV, Special SUV, Premium Special, and Luxury SUV, the security deposit (by way of pre-authorisation) is AUD $1,000.

Accepted Cards

  • American Express
  • Mastercard
  • Visa

Credit and Debit Cards: A valid credit card, or Visa or Mastercard debit card, must be presented upon collection of any Alamo rental vehicle. The credit card used must belong to the primary driver, who is required to be present upon collection of the vehicle.

Cash: Cash is not accepted for any payments, including the security deposit.

Union Pay Cards: Union Pay Cards are accepted if they display a Visa or Mastercard logo.

Payment Timing: Charges for options and coverage are to be settled upon commencement of the booking.

Driver and Licence Requirements

Upon commencement of the booking, renters are required to present a valid passport or national ID card, an unrestricted driver licence printed in English, and an accepted credit or debit card.

Driver Licence & ID

Enterprise accepts current Australian, International, and overseas licences.

Overseas licences that are not easily identifiable as a driver licence must be accompanied by an international licence or English translation.

The renter’s valid driver licence must have been held for a minimum of 12 months prior to the commencement of the booking.

Probationary Licence Holders

Where the renter holds a probationary licence, an additional Probationary Licence Fee of AUD $28 (excluding GST) will apply per day.

Age Requirements

Drivers must be of or over the age of 21 to rent a vehicle with Enterprise Australia. No maximum age restrictions apply.

Drivers aged between 21 and 24 are restricted to the following vehicle classes: Mini, Economy, Compact, Compact SUV, Compact Commercial Van, Intermediate, Intermediate Pickup, and Standard.

Young Driver Surcharge

AUD $15 (excluding GST) per day applies to all drivers aged between 21 and 24 years old.

Prestige Fleet Requirements

For Prestige vehicles, including classes of Luxury, Premium SUV, Special SUV, Premium Special, and Luxury SUV, a minimum driver age of 30 years old applies.

Local Renters

Local renters must provide two current forms of ID, each confirming the renter’s home address. Utility bills issued within two months of the booking commencement date are accepted. A full licence is required to drive any of Enterprise’s prestige vehicles.

Note, local fees and charges may be added to the displayed prices by the rental company upon collection of your vehicle.

Additional Drivers

Additional drivers can be added to the Rental Agreement upon collection of the rental vehicle.

The first additional driver is free. Each additional driver after that is charged at a flat fee per day of AUD $10 (excluding GST). Enterprise will include the primary driver’s spouse—or a person living at the same home address as the primary driver—at no additional charge where the additional driver’s licence address matches the address on the primary driver’s licence.

All drivers must be listed on the Rental Agreement and meet Enterprise’s licence requirements as noted above.

Fuel Policy

Full to Full: The vehicle is supplied with a full tank of fuel; if the vehicle is not returned with a full tank of fuel, additional refuelling fees will apply.

Unlimited kilometres are included for the duration of the booking unless otherwise specified when booking.
